Etsy Fees Explained 2026: Every Fee, One Table

All Etsy fees for 2026 in one place — listing, transaction, payment processing, Offsite Ads, currency and regulatory fees — with a worked $25 sale.

Etsy's fees aren't hidden, but they're scattered across four policies and a currency footnote. Here's the 2026 picture in one table, then the math on a real sale.

The 2026 fee table

Fee Amount Charged when
Listing $0.20 per item On listing; renews every 4 months or after each sale
Transaction 6.5% of order total (item + shipping + gift wrap) On sale
Payment processing (Etsy Payments) US: 3% + $0.25 · UK: 4% + £0.20 · most EU: 4% + €0.30 (varies by country) On sale
Offsite Ads 15% of attributed order (optional under $10k/12mo sales); 12% (mandatory over $10k) Only when a sale comes from an Etsy-placed ad, within the attribution window
Etsy Ads (onsite) Your daily budget Only if you opt in
Currency conversion 2.5% If listing currency ≠ payout currency
Regulatory operating fee Small %; select countries only On sale, where applicable

Worked example: a $25 item with $4.99 shipping (US seller)

Order total the buyer pays: $29.99.

Math Fee
Listing flat $0.20
Transaction 6.5% × 29.99 $1.95
Processing 3% × 29.99 + 0.25 $1.15
Total (no ads) $3.30

You keep $26.69 — fees are 11.0% of the order, 13.2% of the item price. If this order came through an Offsite Ad at the 15% tier, add $4.50: total fees $7.80, and you keep $22.19 (fees = 26% of order). That single scenario is why the Offsite Ads decision deserves its own math.

Three fee behaviors that surprise sellers

1. Shipping is fee-able. The 6.5% + 3% apply to shipping you charge. "Free shipping" doesn't dodge this — you raise the item price, and the same percentages apply there. Fee-wise it's a wash; conversion-wise free shipping usually wins.

2. Fixed fees crush small prices. On a $3 digital download: $0.20 + $0.195 + $0.34 = $0.74 = 24.5% of the price. On a $50 item the same structure is ~10.4%. Cheap items need bundle pricing — relevant to printable-pack strategy.

3. Renewals compound quietly. 200 listings auto-renewing every 4 months = $120/year before a single sale. Prune dead listings.

Building fees into prices

The right order: cost out the product (the handmade pricing formula), then gross up so the net hits your target. To net $N on a shipped-price P (US, no ads): P = (N + 0.45) ÷ 0.905. To net $26.69 → list at $29.99. The quick per-sale summary has more grab-and-go numbers.

Questions

Quick answers.

What are Etsy's main fees in 2026?

A $0.20 listing fee per item, a 6.5% transaction fee on the order total (item + shipping + gift wrap), and a payment processing fee — 3% + $0.25 for US sellers, varying by country.

Does the 6.5% transaction fee apply to shipping?

Yes. Etsy's transaction fee is charged on the total the buyer pays you, including shipping and gift wrap. Free-shipping pricing doesn't escape it — the fee just moves onto the item price.

Are there fees even if nothing sells?

Yes — the $0.20 listing fee is charged when you list (and again at each 4-month renewal or auto-renew after a sale), whether or not the item sells.
